The work of a financial analyst is to facilitate decision-making regarding investments by businesses as well as individuals. To meet the financial goals of an organization they come up with different investment strategies. There are many other names of a financial analyst such as equity analyst, securities analyst, investment analyst and research analyst. Apart from performing financial analysis the job of an analyst is to write reports, analyze technical evaluation of the market environment and technical chart analysis. Most financial analysts are MBA due to the fact that it widens the opportunity for the job of senior analyst. It is a really competitive level because employer demands minimum two years of experience. If one is dealing with securities firm then he/she may have to obtain licenses that are regulated by Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Optional certification as a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) can also be obtained as a professional. There are a number of institutes that offer certification courses in finance in India. However, there is only one institute that has an authorized permission to give CFA degree in India that is Indian Association of Investment Professionals.


There are ample opportunities for job seekers in banks, pension, insurance companies, mutual funds, securities firms, etc. A financial analyst assists customers and can even have their own office where they can independently give advice to people regarding their investment process. Moreover, they can also evaluate taxes or do audit and prepare financial statements. Another segment where a financial analyst excels is cost accountancy. Overall, one can help advance the career by becoming responsible, keeping oneself up-to-date on money markets, tax laws and economy. Apart from this one can also choose other careers too such as a consultant, investment banker, portfolio or fund manager, investment advisor, etc.
